Sara A. “Sally” Simeral, 90, of Lancaster, died peacefully on March 1, 2013 at Magnolias of Lancaster. She was the wife of the late Claire C. Simeral, Jr., who died in 2006.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Walter B. and Sara (Righter) Aierstuck. Sally is survived by a daughter, Jill Simeral of Lancaster and three sons, Buzz married to Diane (Mellinger) Simeral of Swampscott, MA, Mark R. married to Rebecca (Hagans) Simeral of Lititz, and Michael C. married to Marcia (Burry) Simeral of Lititz, eight grandchildren (Elizabeth, Jennifer, Brian, Brad, Laura, Molly, Emily and Jessica), and seven great-grandchildren (Alex, Regan, Jacqueline, Evelyn, Sarah, Scotland and John). Also surviving is a brother, Walter Aierstuck of Leola.

As a former member of the Lancaster Country Club, Sally loved playing golf and tennis.  Her tennis style was as unique as she was. Sally never developed a backhand but simply changed hands from right to left and played with two forehands.

Sally and Claire enjoyed traveling worldwide with close friends. Her interests also included needlepoint, game shows, crossword puzzles and card games. Sally loved duplicate bridge and was a master player. She was probably the only person we ever knew who picked up her hand, fanned the cards and began to play without ever arranging the cards by number or suit.

A private gathering will take place at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be sent in Sally’s memory to the organization or charity of your choice.
