Ruth A. Herr

Ruth A. Herr, 95, of the Mennonite Home died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. She was the wife of the late Luther R. Herr, who died in 2005.

She graduated from the former East Lampeter High School, class of 1939. She enjoyed maintaining contact with classmates and friends since graduation.

Ruth worked for Conestoga Valley School district and later for the Smoketown Veterinary Hospital.

She was a member of Bird in Hand United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and puzzles.

Born in Bird in Hand, Ruth was the daughter of the late John S. and Clara (Bachman) Plank. She is survived by her children: L. Ronald married to Carol (Mumma) Herr of Leola, Patricia H. married to Albert Morrison of Lancaster, Thomas L. married to Cindy (Bordt) Herr of Lancaster and Marcia L. married to Robert Brackbill of Lancaster, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jay, Robert, Walter and Emory Plank and Mary Fritz.

The viewing will be on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 10 until 11 AM in the Bird in Hand United Methodist Church, 2620 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird in Hand, PA The funeral is 11 AM in the church with Pastor Kevin Kresge officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    My deepest sympathy to all of you. I so much enjoyed my visits with Ruth and our almost monthly phone calls. Such a sweet lady. We are all fortunate to have had our Mothers as long as we did. Also enjoyed our going out to lunches.
