Emil L. Meyer, 72, of New Providence, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 following a long illness. He was the husband of Frances (Gagliano) Meyer for over 52 years.
Born in San Francisco, CA, he was the son of the late Austin and Theresa (Costa) Meyer. In addition to Frances, he is survived by three daughters, Theresa married to Troy Seachrist of Willow Street, Diane married to William Lewis of Willow Street and Laurie married to Sean Armstrong of Quarryville; seven grandchildren, Sabrina married to Ryan Seeley, William II, married to Christine Lewis, Alicia married to Steven Mahan, Cody Seachrist, Tyler Seachrist, Seana Armstrong and Morgan Armstrong; a great-grandson, William Lewis III; and a sister, Susan married to Richard Squitieri of Florida.
A graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology, Emil worked as a patternmaker and grader for Sam Landorf & Co., New York, a children’s dress house. He then became the proprietor of his family’s business, Papa Joe’s Pizza and Steakhouse. Following the sale of Papa Joe’s, he worked as parts manager for LHB Appliances.
Emil volunteered with the Willow Street Fire Company and the former Willow Street Ambulance. He enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid Mets, Jets and Knicks fan.
There will be a Celebration of Emil’s Life on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Bachman Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA, with Father Mark Speitel officiating. Inurnment in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery will follow the service.
