Harry H. Ranck, Jr.

Harry H. Ranck, Jr., 80, of Strasburg Township, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 18, 2017 following a brief illness. He was the husband of Dorothy (Groff) Ranck for over 56 years.

Harry was a dairy and poultry farmer most of his life. He enjoyed helping his adult children in their various projects. In recent years, Harry provided transportation for members of the Amish community. In his free time, he enjoyed jig-saw puzzles. One highlight of his life was traveling to the Philippines to visit his daughter, who was serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators. He also enjoyed being an active part of his grandchildren’s lives.

He was an active member of the former Lincoln University Mennonite Church for 40 years and present member of Strasburg Mennonite Church. He served as a church treasurer and trustee.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harry H., Sr. and Anna (Harnish) Ranck. Harry is also survived by his children, Dale married to Miriam (Deiter) Ranck, Nancy Ranck, Carl married to Mary Beth (Eby) Ranck, all of Lancaster, Darrell married to Tina (Wagner) Ranck of Ronks and Fred married to Connie (Nolt) Ranck of Strasburg; 13 grandchildren and his siblings, Ethel Miller of Lancaster and Parke married to Emma (Hostetter) Ranck of Ronks. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen (Ranck) Lehman.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 6 until 8 PM in the Strasburg Mennonite Church, 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA and again on Friday, June 23 from 9 until 10 AM in the church. The funeral is 10 AM Friday in the church with Pastor John D. Meck officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
