Dexter Burton Tucker, Jr.,98 of Willow Street PA, passed beautifully, peacefully and quietly into our Lord’s Presence on June 1, 2017 with his wife of 74 years, Muriel Annie Bell, by his side.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Janice Dubois of Scarborough, ME, Shirley Tucker of Lancaster, PA, and Beverly Detwiler of Rustburg, VA, 11 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his three siblings, Dorothy McGill, Astrid Snow, and Irma MacLeod, and his youngst daughter, Alison Tucker Adams.
Dexter Tucker was born on April 28, 1919 in Framingham, MA, to parents Dexter Burton Tucker and Margaret Ada MacDonald Tucker. He was a captain in the Air Force during WW II, serving as a navigator on B-29 aircraft. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1951 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Buffalo, NY and accepted a position as an engineer in fire safety with Industrial Risk Insurers, where he worked for more than 33 years. Post-retirement he and his wife moved to Willow Valley Retirement Community in Willow Street, PA.
Dexter firmly believed in the promises of God in the Bible. He was a true testament to how he lived every day, giving God absolute control of everything; he was a Christ-follower above all. Dexter wanted everyone to know how much God longs to redeem us.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7 at 1 pm at Spring Run Auditorium, 950 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584. The family will greet guests immediately following.
